Before Reading

Morphemic Analysis can be used before reading to improve students' comprehension.

-Introduce important roots, suffixes, and prefixes
    Example: tri-, quad-, poly- in a Geometry class

-List vocabulary words with common morphemes; ask students to predict what they mean or have in common
    Example: centipede, centimeter, percent, century

Performing these activities before reading can help students to better understand instructional materials.
